The moment has arrived when Runway 101 Finale started with all glitz and glamour and Bukit Damansara Community Hall. The opening act started by Inversion Dance Crew.

Here, we have Mademoiselle Shannon Goh to be our lovely, bubbly and hilarious Emcee for the night. She later invited Cdr Anthonysamy to give a short speech to the students of HELP University College.

Runway 101 : The Finale

Ladies & Gentleman,
The moment we are waiting for is finally here! After going through the hair makeover by Toni & Guy, conceptual photoshoot by Baddogz Studio and a few runway classes to attend, the 12 finalists is now ready to strut on the runway. Remember this project is now a charity project to Mercy Malaysia.

Tomorrow 15th October 2010, Finalists of Runway 101 will be fighting not only becoming the next Winner of Runway 101 Season 2, but also fighting for the title ‘Best Photoshoot Model’ determine by Baddogz Studio & Audience’s Favourite Model’ voted by audience. Voting will not affect the result of determining the Winner of Runway 101 Season 2.
‘Best Photoshoot Model’ gets to walk away with a free profile shooting package worth RM650
‘Audience’s Favourite Model’ on the other hand will receive gift vouchers worth nearly RM150 by Crocs.
Winner of Runway 101 Season 2 will walk away with RM1000 cash, Amir Luqman’s cash voucher worth RM2500 , Free Profile Shooting Package worth RM650 & Gift Voucher worth RM129 by Crocs

The ladies arrived @ 10 in the morning for their hair makeover. Simren Gill had her hair blow dry while Mikko had her haircut. Finalists had their whole day at the academy while the committees had to wait for them. After more than 3 hours, they had their hair done finally!

Hair Makeover by Toni & Guy : Day 1

Finalists were sent for hair makeover @ Toni & Guy Academy to prepare for their upcoming photoshoot.
Call time for makeover is 11am. 5 girls will have their full hair makeover today. Finalists were feeling excited yet anxious over the results of their makeover. Let’s find out whether the will have their hair butchered or colored in blond. Mikko & the other finalists are trying to show us how to get ready for a hair makeover.

Step 1:
Turn your head from left-to-right and back again like doing the hair advertisement to show the stylist how beautiful your hair is.

Step 2:
*For long hair individuals only
Take a seat. Then tilt your head till all your hair cover your face.

Step 3:
Fling your head upwards to get rid of all the dust out of your hair

Step 4: Sit back, relax and enjoy while the stylist start their artwork.

Fittings : Day 1

The 12 finalists were sent for their fittings in Amir Luqman’s Boutique at 9.30am. The girls seemed to enjoy going there as this would be their first time wearing designer clothes.

They were greeted by Nik, the Chief Brand Manager with a dashing smile. Girls were having troubles fitting into the clothes because the gown was either too big or too tight. Nevertheless, Nik was very helpful.

Runway 101 Semi Finals- Determining the Finalists

Runway 101 semi-finals, held in Lower Foyer, Main Block on the 22nd September 2010 is definitely a nail-biting moment as contestants arrived in different themes namely Bohemian Princess and New York Glam. Many contestants were seen helping each other in preparing the hair and make-up for each other.

Audiences started to seat themselves at the stairs in Lower Foyer half and hour before the event began. On this day, the finalists will be chosen by our very own HELP University Colllege students. Sabrina, Dennis and Stefanie and not to miss, the ever bubbly & hilarious host for Runway 101 Shannon is also back to entertain us.

How to get your tickets?

1st step:
Choose between the two types of tickets:
RM30 or RM50 (Front Rows tickets)

2nd step:
Order the tickets by emailing your order at runway101@hotmail.com
Provide your name, phone number, email, the type and number of tickets you want.
An invoice will be sent to your email adress. Keep it and write down the invoice number!

3rd step:
Bring your invoice number to collect your tickets

Runway 101 Auditions

Ah, the whole week is through, and so are the Runway 101 auditions.

More than 30 hopefuls participated in our auditions last Wednesday and Friday (15 & 17 Sept), and wow, we were really spoiled for choice!

The judges were grazed with the presence of the bright, the bubbly, the hot, and the not – as per usual for all auditions, I would say.

Well, if you did try, then kudos to you! Some even tried again after being rejected last year, and I must say, you are all looking good.

Tensions and nerves were high during the event, but who could blame them? It is pretty scary to be facing a room full of people and being scrutinized from head to toe.

But besides the fact that there were so many pairs of eyes staring, judges asking difficult questions and still having to show off their unique personalities, they managed to pull through and even giving smiles despite their nerves.

Well, for now, we have some anticipating to do.

If you are interested to find out who got through or just to support your friends, come see us during the semi-finals of Runway 101 on the 22nd September 2010 at the Main Block Lower Foyer, from 12pm onwards. Admission is free!

Runway 101 FAQ's

What is Runway 101?

Runway 101 is a model search competition organized by IPRMSA for only FEMALE students of HELP University College to gain the experience of being a model. Students who have never been a model are encouraged to apply and audition for this event.

When, where and what time are the auditions?

Auditions will be held on 15^th September 2010 in Activity Room 3, Level 5 Wisma HELP from 11am. – 4pm and 17^th September 2010 in Lower Foyer, Main Block from 11.00am – 4pm.You may choose to audition at any one of these locations.

Do I have to register online in order to audition?

No. You may simply walk in and register to audition at the locations above.

What do I need to bring for the audition?

Please bring your Student ID for verification

What are the requirements for me to audition?

You are welcome to audition as long as you are a HELP University College FEMALE student. You should not be a previous Runway 101 finalist, professional model or an artiste.

If I had auditioned for Runway 101 Season 1, May I still audition for Season 2?
Yes you are welcome to audition again as long as you are not one of the 13 finalists from Season 1.

Must I have modeling experience to audition?

No. You need not have any modeling experience to audition.

Are makeup and hairstyling provided at the audition?
No, you should come with your own makeup and hair done.

How should I dress for audition?

You should dress in anything that reflects your personality and style in order to impress the judges.

What do I have to do during the audition?

You will be asked a few questions by the judges. This competition places more emphasis on the participant’s confidence as a model.

When will I know if I passed the audition?

You will be called to the semifinal rounds if you have passed the audition.

What happens next if I passed the audition?

You will be called for the first challenge by the organizers. Finalists are to be committed to all activities planned by the organizers.

How many finalists will be chosen?

12 finalists will be chosen after the auditions. You will then need to strut on the runway during the Finale.

When is the Finale?

The Finale will be held on the 15^th of October 2010 from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. Venue of the Finale will be at Bukit Damansara Community Hall.

How will the winner be determined?

The winner will be determined by our judges during that night. Winners will walk away with a gown worth RM2500 by AMIR LUQMAN, RM1000 cash and a portfolio photoshoot worth RM450 by Baddogz Studio

How may I purchase the tickets?

You may purchase it from our committee with a small fee of RM30 for normal seating RM50 for front seating. You may call Lim Li Wen at 016-3458979 to collect the tickets.

May I purchase the tickets on the day of the event?

We are afraid to inform you that tickets are limited. It is advisable to purchase your tickets earlier to ensure yourself a seat.

The judges’ decision on both auditions and finale are final. Any form of persuasion, discussion and bribery will not be entertained. IPRMSA will not be held liable for any injuries or damages that happen during the auditions, activities held, and the finale.

Runway 101, the first ever runway show in HELP University College is back with a big bang and this time its louder, bigger and has more attractive prizes to be won..

Organized by the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia Student Association (IPRMSA), Runway 101 is an event that serves as a platform for female students of HELP University College to bring out their hidden talent and dying passion to become a model. This show will give students a platform to achieve their dream on to become a model and at the same time give them real-life experience on modeling world.

As a part of the society’s community service, IPRMSA will be giving a part of the ticket sales profit to Mercy Malaysia, a volunteer relief organization that provides medical and humanitarian services to the needy.

IPRMSA’s biggest event of the year promises the winner a gown from one of Malaysia’s top designers, Amir Luqman, worth RM2500. Not only that, the winner will be entitled to a RM450 worth of portfolio photoshoot by Baddogz Studio and RM1000 in cash. With prizes so attractive, what are you waiting for?

Runway 101 which was held on 5th June 2009 might have just discovered Malaysia's very own Tyra Banks or Heidi Klum. After months of preparations and commitment, the hard work paid of well when the event exceeded everybody's expectation. HELP University Colleges was filled with friends and family members who came to support and encourage all the thirteen finalists.

The event kicked off when all the thirteen finalist walked down the runway with “casual chic” look while wearing clothes sponsored by Colours. The audience were given a chance to look at all the thirteen finalist before they vote for their six favorite girls. After the intermission, the finalists walked down the runway again wearing evening gowns from Desmond Chok Couture House who was the sponsor. The audience were all excited and clapped enthusiastically looking at the thirteen wearing sexy and bold color gowns.

When the votes came in, six finalists were selected for the Question and Answer session. All the girls gave their best answers to prove that they deserve to win the competition. At the end, Jessica Jane Funk, 22 was crowned the winner and she took home RM400 worth of Clinique products and RM300 cash. The first runner-up Sandra Woo, 18 and second runner-up Kadiatou Diallo, 21 both took home RM400 worth of Clinique products and RM200 and RM100 cash respectively. The event ended with the prize giving ceremony to the winners.

A Moment of Your Time Can Save Lives

IPRMSA's 1st Blood Donation Drive, 2010

This blood donation drive will be organized by our club/society IPRMSA under the Department of Communication as part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects for 2010. In addition to give back to society, we would like to encourage more people to become a blood donor and be aware of the constant need of blood supply in Malaysia.

In support of an honourable cause and to help us realise our objectives, Pusat Darah Negara or National Blood Centre has kindly approved our request for their assistance. There will be 12 assistants from Unit Bergerak to administer the procedure. Furthermore, certificate for participation and refreshments will be provided on-the-spot for successful donors.

This event is open to the public. The following are details on the blood donation drive:

23 ladies out of 44 ladies who auditioned were selected by 3 judges: Dennis Khor (Runway 101 Organizing Chairperson) and Angel Ng (IPRMSA Vice President) from HELP B.Comm along with Denise Chin (Guest Judge) from HELP ADP.

Honestly, planning this event throughout 2 months and choosing 12 ladies for Runway 101 in the span of few days wasn’t easy. We are not professionals but just to name a few: Dennis Khor, Stefanie Von Mach and Leconte Lee had their own account and experiences in the modelling and fashion field to help out in executing this plan.

Pictures were taken by Eliza Wong and Jeremy Choy for further evaluation by local stylist and fashion designer, Desmond Chok who is Runway 101’s stylist for the event and sponsor for evening gown session.

Don’t be confused. You saw that right. We ended up having 13 finalists instead of 12 finalists. It was hard deciding which ladies in shortlisted list should be retained in the competition. That’s why Dennis and Desmond both decided to amend it to 13. Although in general 13 is viewed as a ‘bad’ number, I wondered who’s the lucky lady to be chosen as the 13th contestant for Runway 101.

Sorry, these were much delayed as I was busy juggling between Runway 101 and assignments… at the same time, trying to spend some time with family and friends.

The crowd who turned up early to register for audition. They had to register and wait outside for a while as the place we booked are still occupied by a class.

Here are some mug shots taken at the 2nd day of audition at the venue. We had more ladies from various departments ranging from HMC, A-Levels, BComm, BPsych and etc joining the audition. The response rate was faster and better than the first audition, probably because more ladies were free for audition on Friday compared to Wednesday and the message managed to reach more people.
Note: Not all mug shots are posted due to technical error and some did not complete the audition process.

Runway 101 Audition #1

In Runway 101, we are looking for ladies among HELP University College students who exudes CONFIDENCE, not strictly taking issues of height and weight into consideration. So anyone, as long as they’re female and students of HELP, can join Runway 101. But of course, to be realistic, those who possess the package: the looks, the body and able to present themselves confidently will have a higher chance of being shortlisted as one of the finalists.

CLINIQUE Workshop @ HELP

CLINIQUE Workshop

Day: 20th May 2009

Time: 12.30pm – 2.00pm

Venue: Theatrette, Main Block,
HELP University College

Last week, Clinique had its workshop at HELP University College (HUC) providing participants with skincare and beauty tips. This event was held in conjunction with HUC IPRMSA’s FIRST (also FIRST at HELP) model search competition, Runway 101.

Students were checking out the variety of Clinique skincare products that are available in smaller sizes and at much affordable prices.

Here’s are some of the items which I liked at the booth.
Clinique 3-Steps compact size cleanser, clarifying lotion and moisturizer (for different skin types); perfect for Clinique first time users at only RM35 each. Plus they come with a transparent bag for storage. Very convenient for sleepovers, travelling, gym and etc.
Just to let you know, I ended up buying 2 of these. :)

Outside Theatrette at Lower Foyer, a registration booth was set up for both Clinique Workshop and Runway 101. Not only do we have female students and staffs of HELP participating, a number of male students came too with their friends.
Women can improve their skincare and beauty regime to achieve more beautiful and healthier skin while men can pick up tips to impress women as well as improving their skincare regime. No matter men or women, we like those who have clean and healthy skin.

The workshop begun officially at 1pm. The response for this workshop was good. There were about 120 people attending the workshop at the time the registration period ended at 1.15pm.

Seeing this picture, some lecturers would be wishing students paid as much attention to them as well.

Alex Tan, the speaker for Clinique Workshop.

It takes three steps, Alex told his audience and went into introducing skincare products “Clinique 3-Steps” which consisted of cleanser, clarifying lotion and moisturizer. He went on elaborating on functions and benefits of each product.

Alex explained the conditions of our skin and what we can do to have healthy skin. He also demonstrated the proper techniques of cleansing, toning and moisturising.

Clinique 3-Steps products are tested on her hand through a few processes. He then compares the condition of her skin before and after by using the ‘tape test’.

Next, he continued with makeup tips with another volunteer such as finding the matching skin tone for foundation by testing it against your jaw line, the ways to apply foundation and so on.

Choosing the right colours for eye shadow (for day and night) and applying them on the creases of your eyelids with a brush.

Alex also mentioned a few good tips on applying lip-gloss and how we could prolong the usage of our lipgloss.
He was quite an entertainer, talking about the ‘unique’ and comical ways some of us ladies apply our lip-gloss.

Dennis, our Runway 101 Organizing Chairperson didn’t forget to get some Clinique freebies for a few lecturers.

Overall, we were pleased with the results – response rate and feedbacks for the workshop. At the same time, this event helped us to create awareness for our model search competition “Runway 101”, particularly IPRMSA (HELP Chapter) where we aim to unite students from diverse majors and backgrounds to learn from each other besides organizing communications (especially PR) related activities. Apart from that, we gained a number of favourable feedbacks from both staffs and students at HELP regarding Clinique workshop and Runway 101.

Runway 101 FAQ's

What is Runway 101?
Runway 101 is a model search competition organized by IPRMSA for students of HELP University College to gain experiences of being a model on a runway. Students who has never been a model are encourage to apply and audition for this event.

When, where and what time will be the audition?
Auditions will be held on 22nd May 2009 in Activity Room 3, Level 5 Wisma HELP from 12pm. – 3pm and 27th May 2009 in LH 8 Main Block from 12.30pm – 2pm.You may choose to audition at any one of these locations.

Do I have to register online in order to audition?
No. You may simply walk in and register to audition at the locations above. You will however receive priority calling at the auditions if you register online.

What do I need to bring for the audition?
Please bring your Student ID for verification. You may consider submitting a mugshot and full body shot photo of yours.

What are the requirements for me to audition?
You are welcome to audition as long as you are a HELP University College FEMALE student.

Must I have modeling experience to audition?
No. you need not have any modeling experience to audition.

How should I dress for audition?
You should dress that shouts out your personality and your style to impress our judges.

What do I have to do during the audition?
You will be asked a few questions by our judges. In this competition we are looking for confidence first.

When will I know if I passed the audition?
The organizer will inform you via-email on the 27th May 2009 at 12 midnight. Do check your email around that period.

What happens next if I passed the audition?
You will be required to come to Mid Valley on the 29th of May 2009 and 3rd of June 2009 in Level 5 Wisma HELP. More information will be disclosed as soon as you are chosen.

How many finalists will be chosen?
12 finalists will be chosen after the audition. You will then need to strut on the runway during the Finale.

When will be the Finale?
The Finale will be on the 5th of June 2009 from 7.00pm to 10.00pm. Venue of the Finale will be disclosed soon.

How is the winner determined?
The winner will be determined by our judges and audiences’ voting during that night.

When can I purchase the tickets?
You may purchase it from our committee with a small fee of RM10. You may call Dennis at 016-5408004 to collect the tickets.

May I purchase the tickets on the spot?
We are afraid to inform you that tickets are limited. It is advisable to purchase your tickets earlier to ensure yourself a seat.

We might be quiet these days but IPRMSA is all geared up and ready to present to you our first even Runway 101, a model search competition for HELP Female Students Only. So what are you waiting for? IPRMSA has been on a dry spell lately but we are back, and we are all geared up to make history in HELP UNIVERSITY COLLEGE!

If you have not seen the video of Runway 101, i suggest you take a look. Basically, we're organizing a 'model search' for HELP's female students. It's time you girls step up and strut your stuff. Who says hot chicks are only in Taylor's?

So, first things first, Audition Dates:
(i) 22nd May 2009 - Wisma HELP
(ii) 27th May 2009 - HELP Main Block

Interested participants are required to attend the auditions preferably with high heels, come prepared with your personality, your fierceness, your fabulousity and WOW the judges. Whats'more ?The first 50 contestants will walk away with a free goodie bag if you register now for the audition!!!

After careful screening, 12 lucky girls will be chosen to compete in the Finals which will be on the 5th of June 2009 at HELP Main Block, Lower Foyer.
